Short Bio of Speaker
Eric Frangenheim has taught in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), South Africa and Queensland. He has held the positions of HOD and Deputy Principal (South Africa) and Education Adviser for G&T in Central Queensland (1989-1992). He was the co-coordinator for Gifted and Talented students at an independent school in Brisbane from 1993-5 before creating his own educational consultancy in December 1995.
He is director of Rodin Education Consultancy (www.rodineducation.com.au) which concentrates on the promotion of the ‘Thinking Classroom’ for schools in Australia and in New Zealand.
Eric is the author of “Reflections on Classroom Thinking Strategies”, now in its 8th edition, “The Reconciliation of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and co-creator of the Innovative Teachers’ Companion, a teacher’s diary for primary and secondary schools containing hundreds of practical ideas for the classroom. (www.itcpublications.com.au). He and Tony Ryan created the Xpata Lesson Planner, an on-line lesson planning tool incorporating many of the ideas they both promoted in teaching and learning. This tool won the Asia Pacific ICT Award for Education in Kuala Lumpur in 2002.
Eric spends a great deal of time working in schools in Australia and New Zealand promoting the use of thinking tools in the daily classroom. He has presented in both these countries on a regular basis. He also presents workshops on creating thinking environments in the non-school sector, usually on behalf on Laurie Kelly’s Mindworks organization.
